FUTURE PLANS: (be) going to + infinitive

(be) going to + infinitive (to talk about future plans)	I am going to visit my relatives in Madrid next month. I am not going to visit my relatives in Madrid next month. Answers:	Yes, I am. / No, I'm not.

With the verb go you can say: I'm going to go to Madrid next week. = I'm going to Madrid next week.

Watch out!!! In song lyrics going to is sometimes spelt gonna because of the way it is pronounced, e.g. I'm gonna /ˈɡɒnə/ love you for the rest of my life. = I'm going to /ˈɡəʊɪŋ tə/ love you for the rest of my life. (Jennifer Love Hewitt, I'm Gonna Love You).

There is another form to express the future: I will always love you, to express promises. But you will learn it next year in Básico 2.

Typical mistakes:
· don't forget to use the verb to be before going to, e.g. I going to visit my parents next weekend; I'm going to visit my parents next weekend.

TRAVEL - VOCABULARY:
· A jouney is when you travel from one place to another by car, train, plane, etc. , e.g. We had a long journey. (= viaje de ida, trayecto)
· Travel is normally used as a verb, e.g. I travel a lot. (= viajar)
· A trip is when you go somewhere, either for a holiday or on business, stay there, and come back again, e. g. We want to plan the trip to have everything under control. (= viaje, excursión, recorrido)
· A flight is when you go somewhere by plane, e.g. I can't miss my flight. (= vuelo)

6. WRITING

informal writing = to a friend.	formal writing = to a person we don't know, or to a company or institution.
